Hi! I’m Hillary
Dr. Parsons is the sole proprietor of Odyssey Anthropology LLC, offering forensic anthropological and archaeological services at home and abroad. Hillary regularly provides her expertise to the medicolegal community and instructs short-course topics in forensic anthropology and recovery methods.
Presently, Dr. Parsons is contracted as Quebec's forensic anthropologist at the Laboratoire de sciences judiciaires et de médecine légale in Montréal, serving a province with a population of 8.5 million. She works directly with the team of forensic pathologists and forensic odontologists in the resolution of contemporary casework including existing cold cases. Additionally, her position in Quėbec entails the search, recovery, identification, and repatriation of First Nations children from past atrocities.
Background
Dr. Parsons received her Ph.D. in biological anthropology from the University of Tennessee, her M.A. in anthropology from the University of Montana, and her B.S. in anthropology from Montana State University in her hometown of Bozeman, Montana. She is an associate member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, a member of the American Association of Biological Anthropologists and a member of the Society for American Archaeology.
My Work
Dr. Parsons derives her experience from a variety of projects. She provides services for Shoulder 2 Shoulder in their work with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA). This project entails the search, recovery, and repatriation of fallen U.S. service personnel from the battlefields of Vietnam and World War II, work she has been involved with since 2015.
As a subject matter expert, Hillary regularly consults for Milsearch Lao, an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) company responsible for locating and safely disposing of unexploded military ordnance on battlefield archaeology sites worldwide. Her work ensures the scientific integrity of military archaeology sites during the clearance process. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she assisted Kenyon International Emergency Services and SNA International with mortuary operations in New York City for the first and second waves.
